Lucky Stiff is based on the 1983 novel, The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo by Michael Butterworth and was later adapted for the stage in an off-Broadway production in 1988, winning the Richard Rodgers Award for that year. The movie is a musical farce that tells the story of an English shoe salesman who suddenly discovers that he is to inherit $6 million dollars, but only if he first fulfills some odd conditions in his uncle’s will, leading to hilarious consequences. The new movie stars Tony Winners Jason Alexander and Nikki M. James, as well as Dominic Marsh, Dennis Farina, Pamela Shaw, Kate Shindle and Cheyenne Jackson and opens at the AMC Empire (234 W. 42nd Street) today and is available on demand and via satellite, as follows:
