“The Feeling of Being Watched” Theatrical Release This Week
Our client Watched Film, LLC kicks off the limited theatrical run of their film The Feeling of Being Watched at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) on May 1, and Maysles Documentary Center on May 3 in New York City, followed by over a dozen screenings in cities across the country. This feature-length documentary, directed by Algerian-American journalist and filmmaker Assia Boundaoui and produced by Jessica Devaney, tells the story of Ms. Boundaoui’s investigation into one of the largest counter-terrorism surveillance operations conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation predating 9/11 and asks why her community, including her family, fell under investigation. The film documents Ms. Boundaoui’s struggles to disrupt the government secrecy shrouding what happened, and takes the FBI to federal court to compel them to make the records they collected on her community public. In the process, she confronts long-hidden truths about the FBI’s relationship to her community.
