Law360 Speaks to Alice Jump About COVID-19’s Long-Term Impacts on Workplaces
On April 17, Law360 published an article discussing the four major ways COVID-19 will change American workplaces for the long haul. The article addressed issues such as workplace requirements for personal protection equipment and the shift to teleworking as well as the other ways offices will adapt, such as office designs that maximize social distancing. Law360 reached out to RPJ Partner Alice Jump for comment, and she noted that if remote work does increase, companies will have to revise their handbook policies to include things like data security and expectations around work hours and availability when they’re working remotely.
Jump also said that social distancing will likely become more ingrained in official aspects of business management: “I assume that there’s going to be both the legal aspect of social distancing—whatever OSHA or [other] regulators require—and there’s also going to be the social aspect. Are people going to rush back psychologically and go sit in a crowded restaurant?”
