RPJ Client Alex Honnold Prepares for Live, Rope-Free Skyscraper Climb of Taipei 101

Renowned climber and RPJ client Alex Honnold is preparing for one of the most ambitious and unconventional feats of his career: a live, rope-free ascent of Taipei 101, the 1,667-foot skyscraper in Taiwan, to be broadcast globally on Netflix on January 23 as Skyscraper Live. Best known for his historic free solo of El Capitan in the Oscar-winning documentary Free Solo, Honnold describes the building climb as a different kind of challenge: more repetitive, more vertical, and more physically taxing, with uncertainty coming less from individual moves and more from cumulative fatigue and the unfamiliar psychological feel of climbing a man-made structure.

Through Skyscraper Live, Honnold hopes audiences will experience not only tension, but also an appreciation for the beauty, discipline, and joy of the climb, reinforcing that the event is as much about mastery and intention as it is about spectacle.
