Athena Film Festival Announces 2019 Honorees
The Athena Film Festival has announced its 2019 honorary award winners, recognizing and celebrating women leaders in the entertainment industry and those who support them. The 2019 honorees are Time’s Up co-founder Nina Shaw for the Athena Award; writer, director and actress Desiree Akhavan, most recently acclaimed for this year’s The Miseducation of Cameron Post, for the Breakthrough Award; and Toronto International Film Festival co-head Cameron Bailey for the Leading Man Award.
Melissa Silverstein, co-founder and artistic director of the Athena Film Festival and founder of the festival’s co-host Women and Hollywood, announced the awardees, saying, “Now more than ever, it is crucial that we continue to recognize the voices and visions of women in this industry. The Athena Film Festival is proud to honor these champions and give them a platform to continue the dialogue about this important moment in the industry.”
The 9th Annual Athena Film Festival will take place from February 28 through March 3rd at Barnard College. RPJ is an annual sponsor of the festival, and firm partners Helen D. “Heidi” Reavis and Nicole Page are proud to serve on its Honorary Host Committee.
