Client Film “Pray Away” Hailed as the “Must-Watch Movie of the Year”
RPJ is so proud of client and production company Multitude Films’ latest film, the feature-length documentary Pray Away. Directed by Kristine Stolakis, the film goes in depth to reveal the lasting damage inflicted on individuals in gay conversion programs, told by both current members and former leaders of the “pray the gay away” movement.
Pray Away was supposed to have its public premiere at the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival last month, however, due to COVID-19, the festival moved its jury and awards process online. Despite the lack of a premiere, the film has still received wide critical praise and overwhelmingly positive reviews. It was chosen as one of 10 Critics’ Picks of Tribeca and SXSW Film Festivals by The Hollywood Reporter, and cited as “the must-watch movie of the year” by The Playlist and the “definitive documentary on conversion therapy” by Awards Watch. The film teaser clip on Twitter has been viewed over 83,000 times and retweeted by Human Rights Campaign, The Trevor Project, GLAAD, Cory Booker, Andrew Yang, Rosie O’Donnell and Glennon Doyle, among others.
We are thrilled for our client and congratulate them and the RPJ entertainment attorneys Nicole Page and Michelle Lamardo who provided production legal counsel for the film.
