Congratulations to RPJ Client Story Center Films LLC on PBS Debut of Award-Winning Documentary “CURED” on Monday, October 11

RPJ client Story Center Films LLC is debuting “Cured” tonight on PBS and the PBS video app on National Coming Out Day at 10/9c. The documentary follows the fight to overturn the medical establishment’s labeling of homosexuality as a mental illness.

Before 1973, homosexuality was listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders as a mental disorder. Gay and lesbian people were thus treated as “diseased” and in need of a “cure,” facing treatments such as electroconvulsive therapy, castration and lobotomies. Activists recognized upending this system was a crucial step on the road to equality.
