Niki Bhargava to Lead #MeToo Panel at Hot Docs 2019
On Monday, April 29, RPJ Associate Niki Bhargava will moderate a panel for the Industry Conference at Hot Docs 2019, the largest annual North American documentary film festival, in Toronto, Canada. This year’s panel, “Beyond #MeToo, Cont.,” will follow up on RPJ Partner Nicole Page’s panel from last year’s conference that addressed the #MeToo movement within the documentary film industry. This year, the panel’s discussion on gender equality will specifically focus on documentary gatekeepers and existing barriers to access and entry that persist around funding and festivals, as well as how documentary professionals can continue bringing forward solutions to female disempowerment in efforts to reverse the industry norm.
Iyabo Boyd, Founder and Co-Director of Brown Girls Doc Mafia, and Bernadine Lim, Head of Documentary at Screen Australia, will join Ms. Bhargava as panel speakers for the discussion.
