RPL Attorneys Host Social Media Week Roundtable Discussion
On Tuesday, February 24, RPL attorneys Nicole Page, Nicole “Niki” Cubides and Allison “Ally” M. Grein hosted a roundtable discussion as part of Social Media Week NYC titled The Legal Limits of Privacy in Social Media: What You Need to Know. Their talk engaged attendees in a dialogue about recent interesting events relating to the intersection of social media and privacy law, from anti-revenge porn legislation to the European Union’s “Right To Be Forgotten” legislation, and set out to answer some of the following questions:
- Is it legal to publish nude pictures online without the subject’s permission?
- Do you have the right to erase your social media posts?
- Do you have a right to know how your personal data is being disseminated to third parties?
- What do those lengthy Terms and Conditions and Privacy Polices on social media websites mean?
