RPL’s Nicole Page Discusses Access and Trust for Unscripted Series at Realscreen West 2017
On Tuesday, June 6, 2017, RPL Partner and head of the firm’s entertainment group, Nicole Page, spoke on a panel at Realscreen West 2017, an annual conference for the unscripted, non-fiction entertainment industry. The panel, “Trendwatch: All Access Unscripted,” focused on recent television series that take audiences behind the scenes of exciting lives, occupations, stories, etc., and the issues networks and production companies face in creating these series. Ms. Page addressed the specific challenge of balancing the desire to sell programming with the need to stay authentic and not promise more than can be actually delivered. Realscreen’s article on the panel, “Gaining Access Comes Down to Trust,” featured her comments:
“Be careful of that balance. It may not be worth it to go all the way on one particular project if it is going to not only end up damaging your relationship with the network, but also now you are out there developing a reputation as a company that is not true to its word, and that is going to make trust-building exercises so much harder,” Page said. “You kind of need to know when enough is enough.”
