RPJ congratulates its non-profit client, WriteGirl, and its writing student and mentee, poet Amanda Gorman, on Gorman opening the 2022-2023 Session of the United Nations General Assembly on September 20, 2022. RPJ partner Heidi Reavis was the WriteGirl representative at the United Nations celebratory event hosted by The United Nations Foundation and Estée Lauder, where WriteGirl and Amanda Gorman were honored.

WriteGirl is a creative writing and mentoring organization that matches high school-aged girls with professional women writers for one-on-one mentorship, and produces workshops, panels and special events fostering expression, creative writing and activism.  Since 2001, WriteGirl has strived to harness the creativity of young women writers and aid them in achieving higher education, meaningful careers and self actualization.

Amanda Gorman, the award-winning poet, writer and alumna of WriteGirl’s mentorship program, was the youngest Inaugural Poet in U.S. history.  She writes about feminism, race, marginalization, the African diaspora, and hope.  She was the 2017 National Youth Poet Laureate, participated in the 2021 Presidential Inauguration, and has had her work featured in the New York Times, Glamour Magazine, the Edit and much more.
