Oscar Nomination for “Free Solo,” Featuring RPJ Client Alex Honnold

RPJ is thrilled to congratulate our client Alex Honnold on the Oscar nomination of Free Solo, the National Geographic documentary featuring Honnold’s 2017 free solo ascent and the first-ever successful completion of the Freerider climbing route on El Capitan in Yosemite National Park. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the 2019 Oscar nominations yesterday morning, on January 22, with Free Solo earning a nomination as Best Documentary for co-producers and directors Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin.

The film premiered on September 28, 2018, to rave reviews and has continued to have great box office success, crossing the $10 million mark in December.
