Pilot Program with Legal Network for Gender Equity for Consultations Regarding Denied Paid Leave

RPJ attorneys Liz Stork and Ethan Krasnoo are participating in a program providing free consultations to workers referred by the Legal Network for Gender Equity who have been denied paid sick time or paid leave under the newly enacted Families First Coronavirus Response Act. The Act grants certain workers up to 10 paid sick days to care for themselves or a family member and up to 12 weeks of paid leave to care for a child if the child’s school or childcare provider is closed because of Covid-19. However, there are numerous exceptions, so many workers have been denied. The consultation program was started by the Legal Network for Gender Equity, a subset of the National Women’s Law Center, which operates the TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund. Mr. Krasnoo has been providing similar initial consult services through the Legal Network in connection with matters stemming from sexual harassment and gender discrimination for several months. He and Ms. Stork are excited to participate in the program.
